CALBET Antoine Born in 1860 (Lot et Garonne). Died in 1944 in Paris. 19th-20th centuries. French Painter of genre, nudes, portraits, draftsman, illustrator. A pupil of Michel, Alexandre Cabanel and the genre painter E.A.Marsal, he has regularly exhibited, since 1880, at the Salon of French Artists of which he became a member. Officer of the Legion of Honor, medalist at the Salons of 1891 1892 1893 and Silver Medal at the Exhibition of 1900. A painter of portraits and genre scenes, he was a talented watercolorist and became known as an illustrator. His illustrations include E.
